These are Simon and Caroline with our Ridgebacks and four cats. We live together in Baden in Switzerland, where meadows, forests, rivers and historic old towns characterise our landscape. Our passion for Rhodesian Ridgebacks began in early 2012, when our first Rhodesian Ridgeback Nayla came to us as a puppy and from then on accompanied us everywhere we went for the rest of her life. The mountains and hiking have been her world. After she was unexpectedly diagnosed with end-stage dillatative cardiomyopathy at the age of 10 with a prognosis of 3 months, we were deeply broken. At a certain point we decided to look for a suitable kennel for our next Ridgeback. We found it at Lea Kratzer, Kennel Udako, in Cologne, Germany. 

Earlier than we planned, the enchanting little Mr. Green was born on 01.05.2022 together with 12 siblings. We fell in love with him on our first visit and knew that he would be the one. On 01.07.2022, Nash aka Mr.Green joined our family. And as fate would have it, our Nayla was able to experience this moment and be a wonderful big sister to Nash for two years before her heart stopped beating forever on 01.07.2024 during our last holiday together in Italy. She got 12.5 years old.

Although we had never planned to have two Ridgebacks in the family at the same time, the two years we spent together with Nayla and Nash were the best thing that could have happened to us. For this reason, we are already looking forward to the day when a second Ridgeback will move in with us.

Our dogs live with us as family members and accompany us in all our everyday activities. They come to work with us, are regularly in the city, have frequent contact with other dogs and other people. On weekdays, our Ridgebacks also accompany us on our daily running and cycling trips in the forest. As our dogs can be called off in any situation, they generally run free off the lead everywhere.
